Redcar Power Station, located on the former SSI Steelworks site along the River Tees, plays an important role in supporting the region’s ongoing industrial redevelopment. To maintain safe, reliable operation across a wide network of remote substations, the site required continuous visibility of high-voltage assets and real-time communication with the central control team.

With the existing SERCK telemetry system becoming obsolete and unsupported, JBA Engineering was appointed to modernise the site’s monitoring infrastructure. By replacing legacy equipment with Siemens hardware, implementing resilient 4G LTE communications, and delivering a redundant SCADA visualisation platform, JBA transformed the system into a secure, future-ready digital monitoring solution for critical power infrastructure.

The client required a first-of-a-kind pilot demonstration facility to process Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and recover gold and other valuable metals from this growing demand for critical metals.
